Christie Clinic General Surgeon Douglas Jones, M.D. Honored for Compassionate Care

Presence Covenant Medical Center (PCMC) is pleased to announce its 2016 Physician of the Year, Christie Clinic General Surgeon Douglas Jones, M.D. Dr. Jones has been a part of the PCMC staff for more than thirteen years since joining the staff in 2003.  Nominated by his fellow healthcare colleagues, Dr. Jones was singled out for his friendly, outgoing and compassionate care for his patients and his passion for providing educational opportunities to medical students.  “In addition to being an excellent surgeon, Dr. Jones is also a great person. He is always kind – kind to his patients, kind to his team and kind to other physicians,” said Presence Covenant Medical Center and Presence United Samaritans Medical Center CEO and President Jared Rogers, M.D.

Dr. Jones attended the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia and did his general surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery for General Surgery. Dr. Jones and his wife, Sammer, have twins, Samaia and Silas, and a younger daughter, Sidney. He enjoys traveling, sports, music, dancing and reading.  He is a former member of the Third U. S. Infantry, the official escort of the President and a former guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  Dr. Jones diagnoses and treats diseases or injuries requiring surgical care. He also has a special medical interest in hepatobiliary, colon and rectal, breast and laparoscopic surgery.
